Backup - Backup Shell Script 8.30.02 By Bernhard Baehr
The substitute scale script copies a Mac OS X HFS+ charge volume to a direct directory, including resource forks and Unix access rights. After downloading the file, undefended a Terminal window and go to the folder where you take stored the script (e. g. by typing "cd ", then dragging the download folder from the Finder to the Terminal window, then typing the return samara). Then make the script executable by typing "chmod +x substitute", followed by the return samara. (The optimal position to entrepot the substitute script is the directory /usr/local/sbin. On Unix systems, there are local organization binaries located.) Now assume a HFS+ substitute disk or zone called BackupDisk. When mounted on Mac OS X, in the file organization this volume is establish at /Volumes/BackupDisk. To create a substitute on this disk, type "sudo substitute /Volumes/BackupDisk" in the Terminal window. When the substitute control has finished, it is possible to charge Mac OS 9 and Mac OS X from BackupDisk. Before starting the substitute, affirm that "privileges" are honored on the BackupDisk. Otherwise all files of the substitute are owned by the currently logged in user, and the substitute becomes worthless. To break the privileges settings, undefended the Info window for the BackupDisk in the Finder and switch to the Privileges acid. Then uncheck the "Ignore privileges on this volume" checkbox. (With the control line, you can break or modify this settings with the vsdbutil control. "sudo vsdbutil -c /Volumes/BackupDisk" shows the current privilege settings, "sudo vsdbutil -a /Volumes/BackupDisk" lets the organization honor the privileges on the disk and "sudo vsdbutil -d /Volumes/BackupDisk" makes the organization ignoring the privileges.) |
